Where to start
Chosen from this company's lowest answers, easiest first. A quick fix uses material the company already has; a translation fix is usually met by translating a Japanese document (our note says whether this company has one). Questions that need a budget or a board decision are left out. Suggestions drawn from the research, separate from the scores.

Findings by question
F1Quarterly and full-year results summaries (tanshin) published in English3/5
Consolidated Financial Results for Q1 of the year ending March 2027, in English, 4 August 2026, the same day as the Japanese. But the English drops the whole qualitative section (results overview, financial position, forecast commentary) and the shareholders' equity note: Q1 runs 13 pages in both languages without section 1 in English, and the full-year file is 15 pages against 19. A content cut: 3 (was 5; re-checked 14 Oct 2026 against the Japanese page by page). Source document →
F2English results summary is a full translation, not an excerpt3/5
Q1 FY2026 tanshin, 4 Aug 2026: the English and Japanese versions are both 13 pages, but they don't contain the same sections. The Japanese has a contents page and then section 1 '経営成績等の概況': about 1.5 pages covering results, a narrative for each segment (Electronics, Ceramics, Others), financial position, cash flows and the forecast explanation. The English goes straight from the summary pages (results, dividends, forecast, notes on shares) to the balance sheet. So the whole qualitative section is missing, and so is the note on significant changes in shareholders' equity. It does keep the statements, the segment note and the subsequent-events note. The full year is the same: the FY2025 English tanshin (11 May 2026) runs to 15 pages against 19 in Japanese, and again has no qualitative section. Separate English 'Outline' sheets (1 page) only give the numbers. A section of the document's own substance is cut, so 3. Source document →
F3Financial statements including notes available in English5/5
Latest quarter: the English Q1 FY2026 tanshin has the full balance sheet, income statement, comprehensive income and cash flow statement. Its notes include the specific accounting treatment, the segment note (sales, intersegment, profit, with reconciliation footnotes) and subsequent events. The equity-change note is left out. The FY2025 year-end English tanshin adds the statement of changes in equity and notes on going concern, segments and per-share data. There is also the English 'Financial Review 2025' (55 pp): audited consolidated statements for the year ended March 2025, with full notes (note 30 segment information) and the independent auditor's report including KAMs. Editions go back to 2021. Full statements with notes are available for the latest period, so 5. Source document →
F4Annual securities report available in English in any form3/5
No English Annual Securities Report. The English IR library's Financial Review (2025 edition, year ended March 2025) carries the audited consolidated statements, the full notes and the independent auditor's report, but none of the report's narrative sections (business, risks, MD&A, governance), and it is a year behind. Statements only: 3 (was 0 on 12 Oct, which missed the Financial Review; re-checked 14 Oct 2026). Source document →
F5Segment revenue and profit disclosed in English, consistent definitions5/5
Three segments: Electronics, Ceramics and Others. Every English tanshin (Q1 FY2026, FY2025) gives sales (external and intersegment) and segment profit for each, reconciled to operating profit. The year-end note also gives segment assets, depreciation, capex and impairment. The audited Financial Review 2025 note 30 defines the reportable segments ('Overview of reportable segments'). The English Outline sheets and the decks repeat sales and profit by segment, with segment forecasts. The definitions are stated and the segments have been unchanged across the years shown, so 5. F6Multi-year financial data file (Excel or CSV) downloadable in English0/5
There is no downloadable data file. The English Financial Highlights page (ir/result) shows HTML tables for five years by quarter (FY ending 2023/03 to 2027/03): net sales, operating profit, net profit, EPS and so on. Neither that page nor the IR Library (Financial Statement, Presentations, Corporate Governance Report, Integrated Report), the ESG data page or the IR top has any .xls, .xlsx or .csv link. All tables are HTML or PDF.
F7Guidance disclosed in English with the basis explained5/5
The English materials carry both the forecast and its basis. The tanshin and the 'Notice Concerning the Revision of Consolidated Financial Results Forecast' (4 Aug 2026) give the first-half and full-year forecasts: FY2026 sales ¥550bn, operating profit ¥127bn, net profit ¥84bn, revised up from ¥500bn / ¥90bn / ¥58bn. The notice gives the reason: IC package substrate demand well above expectations, plus the weak yen. The Q1 Outline gives segment forecasts (Electronics ¥375bn / ¥110bn OP, Ceramics ¥84bn / ¥6.5bn, Others ¥91bn / ¥10.5bn) and the FX assumptions (USD ¥152, EUR ¥181). The FY2025 deck (12 May 2026) gives the original forecast by segment, FX at USD 150 / EUR 180, changes from the previous disclosure, a market view (AI GPU/ASIC demand), and a note that Middle East risk is not included. Forecast, assumptions and revisions are all explained in English, so 5, even though the tanshin's own forecast paragraph is not translated. Source document →

S1Medium-term management plan in English with numerical targets5/5
The current plan is 'Moving on to our New Stage 115 Plan' (FY2023-FY2027), set out on the English Mid-Term Management Plan page. It links 'Business Forecast including MNS115 Plan', revised 4 Aug 2026. This is the same one-page document as the Japanese chukei20260804.pdf, and both PDFs were created 29 Sep 2026. Its targets: sales ¥550bn in FY2026 and ¥650bn in FY2027, OP ¥127bn and ¥150bn, OPM 23.1%, EBITDA margin 37.8%, by segment; and for FY2030, sales over ¥1tn and OP over ¥300bn (30%). Integrated Report 2025 adds growth rates by segment and non-financial targets (GHG, accident rate, female managers, training hours). The cash allocation targets (payout 20%, cross-shareholding reduction) are in the FY2025 deck. Current, quantified, and as complete as the Japanese, so 5. Source document →

S3English equity-story or investment-highlights page5/5
There is no 'why invest' page on the English IR site. The English Integrated Report 2025 has an 'At a glance' spread with figures: top global share in leading-edge IC package substrates, more than 80 million SiC-DPF shipped, over 100 years of hydroelectric generation, sales ¥369.4bn, 71% overseas, capex ¥157.3bn, R&D ¥27.4bn. Each operation also has an 'Our Strengths' box (trusted relationship with the world's leading customers, investment ahead of competitors, global manufacturing system). The At a Glance labels the substrate position 'Top Global Share'. Re-checked 21 Oct 2026 under the rule as written: a section in an investor document counts the same as a page, and a named market rank counts as a quantified strength. A dedicated section with quantified strengths, so 5. Source document →
S4Growth drivers identified and quantified in English5/5
The English FY2025 results deck (12 May 2026, 19 pp, matching the Japanese page for page) names the drivers and attaches numbers. It gives unit forecasts for AI GPU/ASIC and server CPU for CY24-30 from an external research firm. It shows SAP substrate demand indexed at CY24 = 100, rising to 119/140/180/220 by CY28, and production load of 1.0 / 1.8x / 2.5x. Capacity investment is ¥500bn: Gama Cell6 at ¥220bn for AI ASIC and Ono Cell8 at ¥280bn for AI GPU, both ramping from FY2027. Substrate size and layer roadmaps run to CY30. The FY2030 target is broken down as Electronics ¥800bn, Ceramics ¥100bn, Others ¥110bn, New ¥10bn. Integrated Report 2025 adds growth rates by market (AI server +250%, general-purpose server/ASIC +150%, graphite +100%, EV +¥15bn). Named and quantified, so 5. Source document →
S5Results-briefing transcripts or Q&A published in English4/5
Both the English and Japanese Presentations pages publish a 'Key Q&A' summary for every briefing since FY2024 year-end: FY2024, 1H FY2025, Q3 FY2025, FY2025 and Q1 FY2026. The English lists a counterpart for each Japanese one, and page counts are similar (Q1 FY2026: 4 pp in both). Every English version arrives after the Japanese. Q1 FY2026: Japanese 5 Aug, English 6 Aug. FY2025: 12 May and 13 May. Q3 FY2025: 27 Feb and 2 Mar. 1H FY2025: 31 Oct and 4 Nov. The rule is that every period, but late, is 4. The Japanese AGM Q&A summary (23 Jun 2026) has no English version, but that is not a results briefing. Source document →
S6Integrated or annual report available in English4/5
Integrated Report 2025 in English, 9MB, with English editions back to 2022 - but it states its period as 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025. No edition for the year ended March 2026 as at 1 October 2026. Source document →
S7Progress against the previous plan, including misses, explained in English5/5
The English Integrated Report 2023 has 'Achievements and Issues of To The Next Stage 110 Plan', which reconciles the previous plan (FY2018-FY2022) target by target. Sales target ¥430bn against actual ¥417.5bn; operating income target ¥45bn against ¥72.3bn; OPM target 10.5% against 17.3%. The top message explains the variances: sales missed after the exit from IBIDEN DPF France and the sale of IBIDEN Ceram, and margins beat on high-value IC substrates. EBITDA margin rose from 12% to 30%. Integrated Report 2025 carries the 110 Plan issues forward. A dated target-versus-actual with explanation, so 5. Source document →

G2Director biographies in English with tenure, expertise and independence5/5
The English notice of the 173rd AGM (19 Jun 2026, 44 pp) profiles all eight candidates for director who are not Audit and Supervisory Committee members. Each has a table entry with years of service (e.g. Aoki 13 years, Kawashima 4) and board attendance, plus career history, concurrent posts, reasons for nomination and expected expertise. Outside and independent status is marked, and the independence guideline is on p22. The five Audit and Supervisory Committee directors were not up for election. They appear in the English skills matrix and by name on the Executives page, but their biographies are only in the previous year's (172nd) notice. Re-checked 21 Oct 2026 under v1.1.1: an AGM candidate list covers the board when every sitting director is a candidate or is profiled elsewhere in English on the company's site. The five Audit and Supervisory Committee directors are profiled in the English 172nd notice (2025). Re-opened on 23 Oct 2026: the 172nd notice (18 pp) is online and profiles the five (Proposal 2, pp.9-13), and they are the Audit and Supervisory Committee members in the 173rd notice. Every director covered, so 5. Source document →
G3Board skills matrix published in English5/5
The English 173rd AGM notice (May 2026) has the current skills matrix. All 13 directors, including the Audit and Supervisory Committee members, are mapped against independence and ten skills (management/strategy, corporate planning, finance/accounting/tax, HR, company business, international, innovation, engineering/manufacturing, risk, internal control/governance/legal, sustainability), with the reasons each skill is required. Integrated Report 2025 and a governance-page PDF (skill_matrix_2025) carry earlier versions. Current and in English, so 5. Source document →
G4Executive remuneration structure and its performance linkage explained in English4/5
The English AGM notice business report and the governance page set it out. Structure: fixed monthly pay, an annual cash bonus and stock compensation (a points-based trust), at roughly 50/35/15. KPIs and their weighting: the bonus pool formula is 0.5% of profit attributable to owners of parent plus 1.6% of annual dividends, capped at ¥440m. The board then adjusts for performance indicators, individual performance and TSR; the formula gave ¥452m and ¥172m was paid. Stock points follow from position and prior pay. Amounts: FY2025 internal directors ¥439m (basic 194, bonus 172, stock 73), with totals for outside and Audit and Supervisory Committee directors. Outside directors receive fixed pay only. Re-checked 21 Oct 2026 under v1.1.1, which needs the weight of each performance measure in every performance-linked element: the bonus pool formula is then adjusted by the board for performance indicators, individual performance and TSR, with no weights. So 4. Source document →
G5AGM notice in English with sufficient lead time to vote4/5
The notice for the 173rd AGM (19 June 2026) is complete in English - 45 pages carrying the business report, the financial statements, the single proposal with profiles for all eight director candidates, and Key Points for Exercising Voting Rights. But it carries no issue date and no voting deadline, so an English reader cannot tell how long they have. Recorded at the floor, as the method requires when the evidence does not separate two levels. G6Shareholder vote results disclosed in English0/5
The English Shareholder Information page lists the 167th meeting through the 173rd, each with a convocation notice and in one case a response to an ISS voting recommendation. No resolution notice and no voting results in English for any year.
G7Cross-shareholdings in English with reduction schedule and rationale5/5
Holdings: Integrated Report 2025 tabulates non-consolidated cross-shareholdings for FY2018-2024. The count fell from 54 to 37 and the balance-sheet amount went from ¥37.5bn to ¥55.9bn (11% of net assets). Target and schedule: a reduction of more than 50% of FY2023-end market value by the end of FY2027, announced 4 Feb 2025 in an English notice. Progress: the FY2025 English deck reports the target achieved ahead of schedule, an 81.2% reduction. Rationale: the holding policy says each stock is checked annually by the board for strategic importance, supplier alliances and capital cost, and the proceeds go to growth investment and returns. The English governance page repeats the policy. All four elements are in English, so 5. Source document →

IR News is one dated list, with categories (Financial Statement, IR Statement, Topics) and year filters back to 2011. It covers tanshin, outlines, decks, Key Q&A, timely disclosures, CG reports and AGM notices. But Financial Review PDFs and the integrated report PDFs appear only on their library pages; IR News has only a release notice for the integrated report. O7Named English IR contact published3/5
IBIDEN has a dedicated English IR enquiry form, 'Inquiries about Investor Relations' (name, e-mail, company, country, address, phone, comments), but it is hard to find. Neither the English IR top (www.ibiden.com/ir/) nor the IR menu (Top Message, Financial Highlights, IR Calendar, IR Library, To Shareholders, Stock Information, Disclosure Policy, IR News) links to it, and neither does the To Shareholders page. A reader reaches it only through the site-wide 'Contact Us' link in the header or footer, which opens a list of eleven contact routes (product lines, general information, Investor Relations, ESG/CSR, R&D). Katsutoshi Nishimura, Finance Division Manager, Strategic Corporate Planning, is named as the contact in the results summary. Re-checked 17 Oct 2026 under the current bands, which no longer need a named person: the score stays at 3. The IR route is real and dedicated, but it is reached only through the global contact page, not from the IR site. Source document →

IBIDEN reiterated roughly ¥100bn of annual capex for FY2025–FY2027 and a more-than-doubling of IC-package substrate capacity by FY2027.
Capital structure
FY2025 ROE rose to 12.2% and capital adequacy to 57.3% after a major investment cycle.
Governance of capital decisions
The company ties the investment program to customer roadmaps and has a separate policy to reduce cross-shareholdings by more than 50% during the plan.

Surplus cash, leases, maturities, project ROIC, cost of capital, committed spend and peer comparability are not fully assessed; none enters the accountability score.
