Japan IR Index
Practical improvements to English IR
Turn the research findings into a practical work list. Start with existing materials and website links; plan changes that need translation or internal approval around the next disclosure.
Free self-audit checklist: the 34 questions
Check your next results release or shareholder-meeting materials against the same 34 questions before they go out. The Excel version scores itself as you fill it in.
Where to start
Contact links and document navigation are usually the simplest starting points. Financial downloads and Q&A are easier when source materials already exist, but still need numerical, translation and disclosure checks. Plan voting results, target reviews and release timing with the relevant teams. These are suggested priorities, not promises of completion times or score gains.
How to read the findings
Counts below use the existing assessments of the 128 covered companies. Scores of 0–2 identify items worth reviewing; unreviewed items are counted separately. Review dates differ. These figures are neither market-wide estimates nor counts of regulatory breaches.
01 Make the IR contact route easy to find
O7 · 128 / 128 reviewed · 40 (31%) scoring 0–2 · 0 unreviewed
Add the IR contact link to the English landing page and document library. Check whether English enquiries are accepted, what fields are required, and label any Japanese-only destination.
Suggested owner: IR and web team
Completion check: Open the destination and confirm that an English reader can understand how to make an enquiry.
02 Add English labels to existing financial downloads
F6 · 128 / 128 reviewed · 85 (66%) scoring 0–2 · 0 unreviewed
Add English account labels, units, reporting periods and an update date to an existing spreadsheet. Start with a sustainable set of financial measures and reconcile the figures to published results.
Suggested owner: Finance and IR
Completion check: A reader can identify units and periods and reconcile figures to the results release.

03 Publish the main results-briefing questions and answers
S5 · 128 / 128 reviewed · 54 (42%) scoring 0–2 · 0 unreviewed
If Japanese Q&A already exists, begin with the main questions in English. State whether it is a summary or a full account, identify the briefing and date, and review for material non-public information before release.
Suggested owner: IR and the team approving management statements
Completion check: Readers can reach the Q&A from the presentation and identify the event and scope.

G6 · 128 / 128 reviewed · 108 (84%) scoring 0–2 · 0 unreviewed
